Sabre 42, ‘Legacy’

Cape Hatteras Yacht Charters

Sailing Vessel (SV) Legacy is a 42′ Sabre Sailboat with a sloop rig design. Her classic lines are designed for high performance cruising and are a fine example of quality Maine boat building. Sabre is a respected build among racers and cruisers worldwide. Legacy is an aft cockpit sailboat with 2 cabins, 2 heads, and a full galley in the main salon area. On deck she has a roller furling headsail (optional genoa and jib), an asymmetrical spinnaker, and a full mainsail. Finishing touches include a varnished teak toe rail on deck and a teak interior with a traditional teak and holly cabin sole.  Ideally setup for cruising with 2 couples or a family of up to 6.

Day Sailing Charters

Sunset Sails and Daysail Charters

While you are vacationing on Hatteras Island, take a captained sailing charter aboard SV Legacy. You’ll kickback and relax as you sail the Pamlico sound on your beautiful yacht, Legacy. Photography opportunities are amazing throughout the day, but perhaps most memorable during the sunset cruises. We offer charters in 2hr, 4hr, and 6hr experiences. All charters leave Buxton Harbor from the Hatteras Sailing Center at Phillips Boatworks on Highway 12 in Buxton across from Pop’s Raw Bar. You are welcome to bring aboard any food and drinks that you like and the full use of the yacht and her galley are yours. All charters are private experiences for up to 6 guests.

      Learn To Sail

Sailing Education: Learn to sail while living aboard a bluewater sailboat

At Hatteras Sailing on Hatteras Island leaving from Buxton Harbor, you can learn the skills needed to own or charter a cruising sailboat. We teach the standard US Sailing curriculum including 1) Basic Keelboat 2) Coastal Cruising 3) Bareboat Cruising and can offer certifications that enable you to charter a similar vessel in popular Caribbean or European Charter Locations including the British Virgin Islands, Croatia, and the Bahamas. We offer these courses separately in 2-Day weekend courses and we also offer fast tracked learning in a one week liveaboard course that combines all three courses into one experience. All of our Cruising Education courses are liveaboard courses. Some stay at the dock while others stay on anchor and some cruise the entire time depending on the level of course offered. Cruising courses are taught by Capt. Jay Phillips who has more than 30 years experience teaching these courses.
